I loved this little two book series that talk about abuse from relationships that come from both partners and parents. It gives you a perspective to what goes through someones brain in an abusive relationship and how it still effects them even years after it has ended.
To Make Monsters Out of Girls
This book takes you through what its like to be in an abusive relationship with a partner, and how sometimes you don't really realize until its too late. Only by that time you're already traumatized by it and it sometimes feels as if you will never escape the monsters.
To Drink Coffee With a Ghost
Lovelace wrote this book to add life to the abusive relationship she had with her mother. Although her mom has passed away, so she is creating a sense of closure for herself. toxic relationships are hard in general, and it's much more complicated if those people are your parents.
