Ever Since 2005, the world has been infatuated with the famous series we’ve all come to know and love: Twilight. This vampire/human fantasy we have all been involved with is still just as popular today which is probably why Stephenie Meyer came out with her fifth book continuing the series 15 years later in 2020 called Midnight Sun. Although she rewrote the infamous story of Bella and Edward in one of my favorite styles of writing, from Edward’s point of view.

The first thing that came to my mind was “how many times can a single story be told?” I had already read Meyer’s other twist on Twilight titled Life and Death that came out in 2015 where the genders are reversed. At this point for me, the story was getting a little stretched out which is why I was so hesitant to read this newest novel despite the good feedback it had gotten. Although once I decided to give this book a shot I realized how very wrong I had been. I flew through it and with each turn of the page it gave me a new appreciation for the story and understood why it’s been able to captivate us many years later.

Edward tells his side of the story, and it’s not a side we’ve heard of before. It’s almost as if she’s taken all of the feedback we’ve said about the original story, both the book and the movies, and given it new life. Edwards vampire abilities refine the novel by giving you details you didn’t know you even needed. This book gives you a new perspective through Edward from reading thoughts, his heightened senses, a new perspective on the Cullen family and his overall infatuation with a human girl named Bella shows you firsthand why he is the way that he is and makes you wish this continues as a whole new series with Edward and his experience with the rest of the series. This could hint that maybe Mrs. Meyer may have a few more tricks and stories up her sleeve that keep her fans enchanted with this tale for many more years to come.
